The plan was to mosey around the block and find some neighbours with nice christmas lights. But, seeing as how we live in Buffalo mother nature had other plans and it’s freezing rain and slippery out there so after three close calls I’d done enough suffering out in the cold for my art and this photo of me almost going down on attempt number 2 will have to do for today’s effort.
Petty quiet Sunday here while we wait for the big freeze to happen overnight. We’ve got lots of food and if we get bored there’s toys to play with.
Today BW went to Target to get new running shoes for our run number 4 tomorrow because the ones she had were definitely worn out. And I guess while there she felt that that after the dog ate all my chocolate, not once but twice she should buy me some and it’s appreciated. Now, I also told her to keep out of it until I was able to photograph these bars. Well. You should have seen the pouting. (not as bad as the pouting when we’re out going for our runs mind you, but close)
Speaking of running, here’s a photo of BW’s fancy new $22.00 shoes:
Pretty spiffy eh?
She had to buy the discount ones due to the fact that when she came home she shouted “the garage door doesn’t work”. And, she’s right it doesn’t. And until the garage door repairman shows up later today our only mode of transportation will be our feet because the car is trapped in the garage.
Yesterday, we had the plumber come, today the garage door guy. I wonder what’s next?. This stuff usually happens in threes…
BW decided that our christmas tree just didn’t look right without a star on the top so once again the Amazon guy was at our door this week. The tree is leaning to the right a bit but I think it’s our very own version of the charlie brown tree.
A star is all we both get this christmas as we gave ourselves an early holiday present of a dry basement once again. The plumbing outside the house had to be dug up with a jackhammer outside the house and then repaired by 2 plumbers. It’s always a special holiday feeling when there’s two plumbing service trucks parked outside the house.
BW woke up with a sore throat and what looks to be winter cold 2.0 after her big adventure in Rome. I swear, this is the last time I let her go anywhere on her own because when she does she doesn’t buy me anything and then comes home with a cold, and Tidy Husband turns into “get me a pillow, I need more tea, and you need to make dinner” husband instead. (actually, now that I think of it, this isn’t any different than any other day) ?
So. I didn’t get out for my photo du jour today but I did set up some flashes and lights to see if I could mimic a look I saw online and I think I did pretty good job with a photo of my new ‘old’ lens I found on ebay for about one dollar per millimeter. The lens is manual focus and is from the early seventies. When released they weren’t big sellers because back in the day everything was metal back then and these series ‘e’ lenses are not. But now that it’s all plastic lenses these older lenses don’t seem too bad now and they work fine on my current camera. (yesterday’s photo was taken with this lens)
In other news… I left some chocolate on my desk and this thing ate it when I wasn’t looking. again. We’re not speaking now.
Also BW bought some cleaning spray from Amazon that came today - all eight bottles of it. If anybody needs some household cleaner we’ve got some until about 2020 or so.
