Doggie Boots

We thought we would buy boots for the dog to protect her feet, but it didn’t go so well.

Needless to say, they are going back. She is just going to have to be an indoor dog until it warms up.

Stag Night

It’s just the Dog and I holding down the fort once again as BW is off conferencing in Washington with her peers

As always, BW was ready at the last minute, but she always seems to make it out the door, much to my surprise. And she looked very nice in her new Christmas coat and scarf.

This morning wasn’t without its challenges though as her printer ran out of ink a half an hour before departure. Luckily, I plan for these disasters and had some refills ready on standby

You would think that with 2 days off and no wife it would be all naps on the couch and potato chips and binge watching netflix but I have my instructions:

“Make sure the house is all clean when I return” (BW, when has it NOT been clean? See site title for hints)

“When you pick me up at the airport bring me flowers too”

After dropping BW off, I came home and started cleaning - the Dog and I like living indoors. We have our orders.

I also started what I hope is the last thing I have to finish with our big basement makeover: removing the paint from the banister hardware so I can put the banister back up in the stairway (big ‘reveal’ post to come soon)

Google said to boil the hardware and the paint should flake right off. I bought a 8 dollar pot at the dollar store and gave it a shot:

And with a bit of boiling and help from a wire brush - it worked! Go figure.

Lastly…I bought this today in case we get snowed in:

Don’t worry about us BW - we will be fine.

Love, the dog and TH.

The Bandana

My big task of the day was take the Dog to and from the groomers as it was bath day (for her, not me)

Every time she gets a bath two things happen:

We are out fifty bucks

She gets a new bandana

I call this fifty-dollar dog day.

Anyway, today I go pick up the dog and notice the bills bandana and think nothing of it because I could care less about sports.

But BW is a Philadelphia Eagles fan. And holy hell did she flip out when she saw the bandana. I thought she was going to disown us. ( I would probably be the first to go, as the dog does have seniority after all. )

There was grunting and complaining (from her, not the dog) and just overall unhappiness in the house overall for an hour or two until things settled down.

As I write this the dog is still wearing this but I bet BW won’t be able to stand it and will remove it.

Me? I’m rooting for the Leafs

Like Pulling Teeth

This was the view from the garage today when I went to warm up the car so it would be warm when we got it in it and we would be on time for my dental implant appointment.

You would think that I would not want to take photos at 7am when I have impending dental work but you see I was waiting for my wife to get out the door. Soo….I waited and waited.

We work well in a lot of situations, and have a lot of fun together but one thing we don’t agree on is leaving the house together in the morning and especially when the departure time should be.

Me? I like to leave early.

BW on the other hand **prefers to be asleep. **

I deliver coffee to BW in bed every morning and this morning was no different and I gave her plenty of time to get out the door but it’s still like pulling teeth trying to have her leave on the time I prefer.

All I know is that this morning was not our shiniest and happiest for a few minutes there. Let’s just say it wasn’t just icy outside but inside the car too.

I was over caffeinated and more than a little apprehensive about my upcoming appointment and it wasn’t helping any that Google kept updating the traffic data with longer and longer times in traffic, and BW was still trying to figure out why she was awake.

I started to get antsier and antsier as I didn’t want to be late. I hate being late.

While I was waiting in the car, I just couldn’t take it anymore and had to go and check and see where she was.

“I’m right behind you” has a different definition for each of us it seems. I’ll leave it there.

But I made it on time (turns out BW was right) and I was in and out of the dental surgeons in a half an hour with one less tooth and one more dental implant.

BW? She went and had waffles. Because when you have a crappy morning waffles fixes everything.

Me? I’m on the soup diet.

One Day at a Time

Happy New Year Everybody.

If I have one resolution it’s to try and write a bit more here, and share some photos. I keep thinking I have to wait until I have some great novel composed or we have to go on great adventures before I have something to write about.

But then I don’t write at all and I regret that so maybe this is the year that this all changes and I actually get an audience of more than about five readers. Or…not. We shall see.

The photo you see is the view from my ‘office’ at work. It was a little cold out for the first day of the year and it looks to stay cold for the remainder of the week.

Lastly, the other resolution I have is to eat more pie. Hope your 2018 will be a great one. ?

Keep Warm.
