Outfit of the Day

It’s valentines day so of course there’s going to be a lot of pink and red and at the NICU today they did not disappoint! When I got there they had her all dressed up in this little onesie with pink LOVE written all over. And of course, there’s the hat. She wiggles around so it’s usually just off her head and today was the same.. the hat seems like a good idea.

She is keeping her temperature and is eating and weighing more so that’s all good news. She made us a valentine’s card (with some help from the nurses I am sure) . She also got mail today. In fact, there’s more mail for her than me.

She didn’t eat for me today from the bottle but she did for the nurses. It’s hard work figuring out to eat and breathe and suck all at the same time but she’s still just days old. When she is ready she will let me know.

Outfit of the Day

longer hair every day

Unlike the usual hospital grade receiving blankets that she is usually in when I arrive at the hospital to see her today she was in some fancy green wrapper by Halo, that reminds you that ‘back is best’ so when you put your baby down that he/she is on their back.

She grew a bit more today, but not much – about an ounce. She’s eating more overall but still has a hard time with bottle feeding still. She took 20ml for the nurse earlier today, but for me she only downed 2ml, and most of that was probably spillage.

Outfit of the Day

Today’s outfit was all wrapped up so I didn’t get to see what she was sporting today.

But she did gain weight and is up to 6lbs 3oz. She had no interest in the bottle today as she was tired. They did a hearing test which she passed and she also had physical therapy too. Heck I would be tired with all that.

This is the time my little beauty needs her sleep so she can grow her brain and become smarter than me.

She was dressed today wrapped up and swaddled in the standard hospital receiving blankets that seem to be ubiquitous here.

That Hat

Today’s outfit is a little mint green number with embroidered flowers on the front. She looks great in this color. I’m not so sure about the hat and whether it compliments but it seems to have become “the hat” for her NICU stay so we will just go with the flow.

She’s made it 6lbs 0.3oz for weight and she is still holding her temperature for the 2nd day in a row. If she could just figure out he bottle feeding we could bring her home, but we will wait until she is ready.

She is also sporting a new mattress cover with hedgehogs and a Peanuts blanket with Snoopy and hearts too. It’s been a very fashionable day today.

Jolly Jumper Sneak a Peek

All these cutesy named products I didn’t know existed until she came along and now they are arriving fast and furious. One of the latest to arrive at our doorstep is a cover for the baby seat.

I bought this vs other car seat covers because it was priced just over $20.00 compared to the other colors that at the time were priced at almost twice as much so it was a no-brainer.

Apparently these are great when carrying the baby around in the car seat in the winter as the baby is still easy to get to, but it keeps the child warm and is much easier to manage than a plain blanket thrown over the car seat which can slip and be a trip hazard.

The model I bought is fleece lined and seems to be well designed. I haven’t tried it out yet because SP is still in the NICU but I hope by the end of the month I can bring her home where she belongs.

Today’s Outfit

Today’s outfit is a little white number with little red leaves. I guess it would help if you could actually be see what I am talking about the but you will have to believe me.

She’s still growing and moved from the incubator to the crib which means she is maintaining her own body temperature.

She is very sleepy with all the hard work she is doing of keeping warm.

Update: Here’s a better photo that shows the outfit of the day.

LeachCo Podster Infant Sling and Lounger

baby not included

This was gifted to us from a very generous friend of BW’s that I have never met actually, but with his gift note he said that this was indispensable for his kids so I hope that it holds true for SP as well.

We now have two of these baby loungers so I hope she gets use out of them when she gets to come home otherwise, the dog will get a few more dog beds. B

Outfit of the Day

Today’s outfit is a long sleeve pink outfit that’s obviously l too big for her as she has the sleeve rolled up more than once.

Today she weighs 5lbs 8oz, same as yesterday. We are coming to grips with the fact that our little bundle can’t grow every day and all this takes time.

January 2019 in Review

It’s kind of obvious what the highlight of the month was:

Hello World

She entered the world on January 26 and my life hasn’t bee the same since. 🙂

As far as writing goes, I didn’t do too badly compared to some other months but there’s room to improve. Unlike December, I spent less time tweaking and more time on writing. I still don’t have the habit down everyday but it’s getting better and better.

I think my big challenge in the upcoming months will be to find the time to write regularly because well., I’m a Dad now. It doesn’t really feel all that different yet as SP is still in the NICU so when we’re home there’s no change so my screen time is about the same as it’s always been. This will change soon.

Earnings from this site were pretty much non existent when it comes to making money from my efforts, but now that she’s here that’s not really my focus anyway so whatever. I would like to make enough to cover my web hosting costs but even that’s so cheap that it doesn’t really matter.

While SP is in the NICU I am still working, but that’s about to change in a few weeks when I go on family leave to bond with my little girl for a few months. I’m the primary caregiver so it’s important that we get off to a good start.

The goal for February is to get her home to me and out of the NICU.

The rest doesn’t really matter.
